Pat led the walk, which started in Fleix because the road in
Benimaurell was closed for road works.
So we finally did the Green Horse again, but not without an extension.
When we reached Benimaurell the road was open to our usual
parking place, though work was still going on.
We passed the Casa Carrascal vehicle, so obviously Dave and Sue had
managed to drive to the village.
By the time we reached the top of the Green Horse everyone
was ready for our usual banana stop
David felt the urge to add to the cairn, taking great care
not to repeat his well remembered destruction of a cairn many years ago.
As we were getting ready to carry on Dave and Sue arrived
with a group of their guests. They offer
professional walking holidays, and Monday is Green Horse. It was nice to see them again and meet their
visitors.
Pat let them go ahead and then we set off to walk the ridge
Rosemary suggested having a one minute silence for Remembrance,
which was a really nice idea. Ken spoke
some very moving words and it was quite a touching ceremony in a beautiful
isolated spot.
Then
it was on to the rural bar, which is always closed on a Monday. So we can use their picnic tables and enjoy
the view in comfort
We broke the return journey at Benimaurell for a drink in
the bar, then back to the cars at Fleix.
Monday 18 November
2013
Next Monday
will be The Fig Tree walk. Meet on the Benichembla to Castells road
at the lay-by just after the 30 kilometer sign. Cross the bridge we
used to park under and park on the left.
