We joined the Val de Pop U3A walking group for their first
walk after the summer break. We are
members of the local U3A, and had wanted to join the group since last Christmas. Jan’s accident, and then the summer break, got
in the way. This first walk of the new
season seemed an appropriate time to finally join them.
The walk started in Jalon, as apparently most of them
do. We were pleased that it was a new
route, on the opposite side of the river from the path we usually take.
Nice
pace and good paths to Lliber, and then a short rest before starting to climb
The climb was pretty gentle, a good introduction back to
walking after a long summer break.
Another short break when we reached the top, time to enjoy
the lovely views back to Jalon
Then another climb, not many walks around this area that
does not involve some sort of uphill walking
This area around Lliber was the scene of one of our first
local walks many years ago, and it’s always nice to come back and see it again.
A short break for a welcome drink in Lliber square before
the return walk to Jalon.
It was a very enjoyable three hour walk, and the group made
Jan and I feel very welcome. This could
well become a regular Friday walk, to complement our Monday walks.
