Bright and sunny for our traditional Christmas walk on
Cragside, the hill at t he back of Stuart’s house.
The walk starts with a steep climb through a farm, which has
the most attractive Angus (?) cattle. The mum was not very impressed with me, but
“little un” seemed quite fascinated.
The walk continues through a large woods, with a lovely
little clearing packed with bird boxes.
Then it’s out onto the large open area which, to us, looks
very similar to the New Forest. But with
much more impressive views over the Coquet valley and beyond to the Cheviots.
This is a very popular walk, but despite the bright sunshine
we did not see many other walkers until we were close to Rothbury on the way
back.
We
had a special treat, compliments of the season. In place of our usual banana stop, we had a
chocolate stop. But in fact it was too
cold to stop and sit, so we ate on the move
Guess who had the larger half!
