This year is a “significant birthday” for Jan, and we
returned to Rothbury to share it with the family.
The grandchildren could not wait to open the cards and
presents
Jan looks like she can’t really believe the card has it
right
We were fortunate with the weather, as often happens on Jan’s
birthday. So the whole family went to a
local pub for lunch.
Then on to the Thropton Annual Fair, which included the
Rothbury Pipe Band.
The highlight was a display of birds of prey, which included
participation by all the children
Jack was quite “bowled over” when an eagle flew just above
their outstretched hands. Too quick for
me to capture a photo of it.
The highlight of the day was a special meal at the Treehouse
Restuarant in the nearby Alnwick Gardens. Its a magnificent treehouse complete with a
wobbly rope bridge and a very “Harry Potter” look. Excellent meal as well.
Next morning we got some fresh air on our favourite Cragside hill walk
We recovered with a bottle of water and a couple of sandwhiches from the local award winning butcher.
Happy Birthday Jan
